Frequently asked questions
Straight answers,
no fine print.
Whether we've contacted you about an account, or you're considering VVM as a recovery partner — the answers you need are here.
If VVM has contacted you
A credit provider has appointed VVM to recover an outstanding amount on their behalf. Our agents will always identify themselves, name the credit provider concerned and give you the account reference. If anything is unclear, ask for the details in writing — we will provide them.
VVM (Van de Venter Mojapelo Pty Ltd) is registered with the Council for Debt Collectors under registration 0013148/05 and has operated since 1993. If you are ever unsure, do not act on the call — phone us back on 011 329 8500 or email info@vvm.co.za to verify. Never pay into a bank account you have not verified with us directly.
In most cases we can set up a payment arrangement based on what you can realistically afford. Use our affordability calculator to work out a sustainable monthly amount, then contact us to formalise the arrangement. Engaging early gives you the most options.
The debt does not go away. Unresolved accounts may escalate to legal action, which can add costs and affect your credit record. People who engage with us early consistently reach better outcomes — smaller instalments, settled accounts and cleared listings.
Contact us in writing at the account reference you were given, stating that you dispute the debt and why. We will take the matter up with the credit provider and verify the account before collection activity on the disputed amount continues.
Yes. We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) and only for lawful collection purposes. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and why, and our PAIA manual is available for download on this site.
If you’re a credit provider
Start with a conversation — call 011 329 8500, email info@vvm.co.za or use the contact form. We will assess your portfolio, agree a mandate and treatment strategy, and can typically complete onboarding within days.
We recover both commercial and consumer debt across the credit lifecycle — from early-stage arrears through to aged, previously written-off portfolios. If you extend credit in any form, we can build a recovery programme around your book.
Transparent reporting is part of every mandate. You receive regular performance reporting on recoveries, contact outcomes and projections — and you can request a portfolio view at any time.
Our commercial models are typically success-based — aligned to what we actually recover for you. Terms depend on portfolio size, age and type, so contact us for a tailored proposal.
